為何香港車輛重量不能超過44噸? 歐洲重型拖頭合共總重可多達百多二百噸, 香港也有公司引進搬運重物, 但法律的上限只有44噸, 難道他們違法? 傳聞香港道路負重為約10噸/軸, 當我買下一輛十軸車(連拖架), 出牌應該有100噸, 但實際只有44噸(和5軸一樣), 豈不浪費? 政府容許我逐次申請超重許可証, 但為什麼不在新車出牌登記時一並發出? 請相關人仕作答

Because it will damage the structure of the carriageway. We have lots of utilities underneath the carriageway in Hong Kong and therefore cannot design for vehicles with such a heavy load.
